Get your Second Opinion

Are you exhausted from not getting any answers?  Are you exhausted from sitting on surgical consult waiting lists with no end in sight?  Are you still in pain?

If you are doing rehabilitation for more than two months, and you aren’t better, you should seek out a second opinion.  If you’ve been placed on a surgical consult list and it’s been more than six months, and your pain is getting worse, you should seek out a second opinion.   If you’ve been in pain for more than six months, seen numerous practitioners, and you STILL don’t even know what is wrong with you, you should seek out a second opinion.

Dr. Erik Klein is your second opinion doc.

Case study:

Dr. Erik recently saw a patient with a four year history of muscle based chest pain.  The pain continued to get worse, this individual had been cleared of all heart related issues, had 15 different scans, been prescribed numerous medications and had seen two separate physiotherapists, and two specialists without success.  This patient sought Dr. Erik out for a second opinion.

After reviewing the medical file, scans, blood labs, and having a thorough history and physical examination, Dr. Erik determined that it wasn’t the chest that was the problem, but actually the shoulder.  Due to how they were doing their work, they had a shoulder impingement, that had gone unmanaged for so long, the muscles and joints of his chest wall were severely inflammed.

After two sessions, this patient was 80% improved and working and living with virtually no discomfort.

Do you want a second opinion as well that hopefully can assist getting the answers you’re looking for?

Emergency Surgery

Dr. Erik Klein is routinely sought out for second opinions due to his ‘Sherlock Holmes’ approach to tough cases, always searching for the ‘why’ of the problem.  Dr. Erik’s experience both in the clinic room and through many hundreds of hours of continuing education makes this an area that he has a great interest in.

Recently, Dr. Erik worked with renowned clinical neurologist Dr. Fred Carrick in Florida doing human brain dissection to better evaluate how anatomical changes in the brain affect function and how it relates to how people perceive and manage pain.  Dr. Carrick helped correct Sidney Crosby’s second concussion.

Between 2012 and 2016 Dr. Erik participated in the working group that brought spinal surgery triage to New Brunswick, based off of the highly successful ISAEC program in Ontario, and he has spent time in the Operating room observing spine surgeries and referral protocols.
